# Console tour

> How the console is laid out, what the Dashboard shows, and the shortcuts that save time.

The [console](https://console.neuronsearchlab.com) is where you configure what people see, inspect your data and measure results. This section of the docs follows the console's sidebar, so each page here matches one page there.

## The sidebar

| Section | Pages | What you do there |
| - | - | - |
| | **Dashboard** | See usage, setup progress and top items at a glance |
| | **NeuronSearchLab AI** | Ask the [assistant](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/assistant.md) to inspect or change things for you |
| **Relevance** | [Contexts](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/contexts.md), [Rules Engine](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/rules.md), [Segments](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/segments.md) | Decide what each placement shows, and to whom |
| **Data** | [Items](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/items.md), [Users](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/users.md), [Events](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/events.md) | Inspect the catalogue, people and behaviour flowing in |
| **Insights** | [Analytics](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/analytics.md), [Experiments](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/experiments.md), [Explainability](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/explainability.md) | Measure, test and debug |
| **Models** | [Models](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/models.md), [Model Training](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/training.md) | Choose, train and deploy recommenders |
| **Developers** | [Website embed](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/website-embed.md), [SDK Credentials](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/sdk-credentials.md), [API Keys](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/api-keys.md), [Integrations](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/integrations.md) | Connect your site, code and data sources |

Some pages are reached from elsewhere: the [Pipeline](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/pipeline.md) editor opens from a context's recipe, your [profile](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/account.md) opens from the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, and the full [notifications](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/account.md#notifications) list opens from the bell in the header.

The icons at the bottom of the sidebar open support email and these docs.

## Dashboard

The Dashboard is the first page after sign-in.

* **Setup checklist**: the steps that get a new workspace serving, such as adding your site, creating SDK credentials, creating a context, configuring rules and building a pipeline. Each item links to the page that completes it and ticks itself off. The checklist disappears once everything is done.
* **Usage snapshot**: requests used against your plan's monthly allowance for the current period.
* **Key figures**: total requests, average response time, active users and events, each compared with the previous period. Select a figure to open it in [Analytics](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/analytics.md).
* **Top items**: the most-interacted items in the selected period. Select one to open it in [Items](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/items.md).
* **Quick actions**: shortcuts to create an API key, invite a team member, set up billing, view models and track usage.

A **Sample data** label means the workspace has no real traffic yet and the figures are illustrative.

## Quick search

Press <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>K</kbd> (macOS) or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>K</kbd> (Windows, Linux) on any page to search across:

* pages of the console
* rules, pipelines, experiments and segments, by name
* users and items, by ID or name

Results are grouped by type, and only include what your workspace can see. It is the quickest way to jump to a rule by name, or to check that a user or item exists before explaining a result.

## Workspaces

If you belong to more than one workspace, switch between them from the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, which also has your profile and **Sign out**. Everything in the console, including credentials and usage, belongs to the workspace that is selected.

## Notifications

The bell in the console header lists notifications about training readiness and run outcomes, serving quality, experiments and data health. See [Account and settings](https://docs.neuronsearchlab.com/console/account.md#notifications) to choose which also reach your inbox, or to turn on desktop alerts.

## Light and dark mode

The console follows your system theme. Change it with the theme switcher at the bottom of the sidebar.
